Thai authorities on Friday set up a center to monitor "Red-shirt" movement.

The Center for the Resolution of the Emergency Situation (CRES) Spokesman Col Sansern Kaewkamnerd said on Friday that the center will be supervised by Army Chief Anupong Paojinda and responsible for the seven provinces under the emergency decree.

They are Bangkok, Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani, Samut Prakan, Udon Thani, Khon Kaen and Nakhon Ratchasima. In other provinces, the situation will be monitored by staff of the Internal Security Operations Command, said Kaewkamnerd.

The police have been prepared to cope with any situation in Bangkok and Chiang Mai this Sunday, Bangkok Post online quoted Bangkok Police Deputy Spokesman Pol Col Songpol Watthanachai as saying.

The United front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) also known as the "Red-shirt" movement supporters is planning to hold a rally on Sunday in Bangkok and north province of Chiang Mai to mark the fourth anniversary of the 2006 coup that toppled former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinnawatra.
