Thailand's Criminal Court on Tuesday denied bails for 11 anti-government "red shirts" charged with terrorism in connection with recent "red-shirt" rallies in central Bangkok, the Thai News Agency (TNA) reported.

The 30-day detention period of the 11 "red-shirts," under the emergency decree, expired on Tuesday, hence police sought the court approval under the normal Criminal Procedure Code to further detain them.

The court said that the "red-shirt" suspects could escape if they were granted bails, the Nation online reported.

The 11 suspects include major "red-shirt" leaders: Veera Musigkapong, Natthawut Saikua, Nisit Sinthuprai, Kwanchai Praiphana,Yosvarit Chooklom or Jeng Dokjig, Weng Tochairakarn, Wiphuthalaeng Pattanaphuthai, and Korkaew Pikulthong.

The death toll from a series of violent clashes between the " red-shirt" protestors and troops during the period from March 12 to May 19 in central Bangkok stood at 88 as some 1,885 others were wounded.
