# Olympic flame arrives in Beijing

The Olympic flame was ignited for the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games on Oct. 18 at the Ancient Olympia in western Greece, and handed over to the BOCOG at the Panathenaic stadium in Athens the next day. The flame arrived in Beijing on Oct. 20.

During the welcoming ceremony held at the iconic Olympic Tower in Beijing, the BOCOG released its plan concerning the Olympic flame display and torch relay. According to the plan, some 1,200 torchbearers will take part in the relay for the Winter Olympic Games from Feb. 2 to 4, 2022, and the relay for Paralympic Games will be completed by about 600 torchbearers between March 2 to 4.
