The Colombian government said on Sunday that two people tested positive for the A/H1N1 flu virus, raising the number of confirmed cases in the country to 42, including one death.
According to a Social Protection Ministry statement, the two patients come from northern city Barranquilla and northeastern city Bucaramanga, and both had traveled to the United States.
The one from Barranquilla is a male who developed symptoms of fever, sore throat and headache last Wednesday after returning from the Unites States.
The woman from Bucaramanga showed similar symptoms after coming back from the U.S. city Miami, the ministry said, adding both patients are responding well to treatment.
Last Thursday, the Colombian government said it has tightened controls at health centers after the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the widely spreading A/H1N1 flu has developed into a global pandemic.
