Britain's Department of Health confirmed on Friday 73 new cases of A/H1N1 flu infections, bringing the total number of cases in the country to 921.
A Department of Health statement said 72 of the newly-confirmed cases were from England and one from Wales. The new total also included 26 cases in Scotland announced later on Thursday by the Scottish government.
Testing of the A/H1N1 flu virus is now carried out by the Health Protection Agency's regional network of laboratories.
To date, 574 cases have been confirmed in England, 337 in Scotland, seven in Northern Ireland and three in Wales. What's more, the Health Protection Agency said 437 cases are currently under laboratory investigation in Britain.
"The localized cases of swine flu found in the UK have so far been generally mild in most people, but are proving to be severe in a small minority of cases. We are continuing to work to slow the spread of the disease and to put in place arrangements to ensure that the UK is well-placed to deal with this new infection, " said the statement from the Department of Health.
