Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov renewed Tuesday in Algerian capital Algiers his country's condemnation of the "use of force" in Libya, Algerian official new agency APS reported.

"We have a common position with Algeria regarding the respect of fundamental right to human life. And, thus, we condemn any use of force" in all the countries, Lavrov said after meeting with Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika.

The Russian minister asserted that his country' s position " perfectly tallies with" that of Algeria concerning "the principle of non-interference in countries' internal affairs and the right of peoples to decide about their futures, to be the masters of their destiny and determine the necessary political reforms."

Protecting the Libyan population must be the unique objective of the establishment of the no-fly zone in Libya, in line with UN Security Council Resolution 1973, Lavrov said during a joint news conference with his Algerian counterpart Mourad Medelci.

Lavrov arrived in Algiers late Monday for a two-day working visit, within the framework of political consultations between the two countries, which are bound by a Declaration of Strategic Partnership signed in Moscow in April 2001.
