At least 29 people were injured after clashes between Coptic protestors and residents in a neighborhood in the Egyptian capital of Cairo on Thursday, a day before a planned mass protest in the city over several issues including the draft constitutional principles.

Dozens of Copts were marching towards the Tahrir Square in downtown Cairo to commemorate the victims of the Oct. 9 incident, when clashes occurred between them and some local residents. The two sides hurled stones and bottles at each other.

On Oct. 9, Coptic protestors and government troops clashed in front of the Egyptian TV building in Cairo, leaving 25 dead and more than 300 injured.

All the injured were in stable condition after the fresh clashes on Thursday, official MENA news agency reported.

The latest incident showed that the sectarian tension remains a factor affecting the country's stability.
