U.S. State Department said on Tuesday that Washington had not seen signs yet from the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) that it was prepared to meet the conditions for the resumption of six-party talks.

State Department spokesperson Victoria Nuland made the remarks as South Korea's top nuclear envoy Wi Sung-lac is scheduled to visit Washington on Wednesday and Thursday for policy coordination on DPRK.

Nuland said Wi, during his stay in Washington, was expected to meet with Deputy Secretary of State William Burns, Assistant Secretary of State for East Asia and Pacific Kurt Campbell, and U. S. special representative for DPRK Stephen Bosworth.

Wi's visit is scheduled after DPRK top leader Kim Jong-il reportedly agreed to consider a moratorium on nuclear weapons test and production in a recent meeting with Russian President Dmitri Medvedev.

Pyongyang quit the six-party talks in 2009, but has expressed its wish to return to the negotiating table.
