At least five people, including three paramilitary troopers of India's Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), an Indian policeman and a civilian were wounded Friday evening in a grenade attack in India-controlled Kashmir, police said.

The grenade was lobbed by suspected militants on a CRPF bunker around 16:30 p.m. local time at Safakadal locality of Srinagar city, the summer capital of India-controlled Kashmir. "Suspected militants hurled a grenade towards CRPF men who had returned from chasing the stone throwing youth. It seems they were also among the stone pelters. The grenade exploded with a bang outside the bunker and left three CRPF personnel, a policeman and a civilian injured," said Prabhakar Triphati, CRPF spokesman in Srinagar.

All the injured were rushed to hospital for treatment of injuries, where the condition of policeman was stated to be critical.

The incident created panic among the pedestrians and shopkeepers who were seen fleeing away from the spot.

So far, no militant group has claimed responsibility of the grenade attack.
