The intense political situation has continued in Thailand's capital Bangkok as troops have been deployed nearby the main anti-government rally site Rathchaprasong Intersection in central Bangkok.

Also, a gunshot-like sound was occasionally heard on several areas nearby the Rathchaprasong Intersection, while helicopters sometimes flied over areas above the Rathchaprasong Intersection.

At least two Thai media persons are reportedly injured as they were on duty at the Wireless Road, a Xinhua journalist reported from the scene.

In a related development, two companies of soldiers have been deployed at the Ratchaprarop area, which is not far from the Rathchaprasong Intersection.

At these two separated places: the Wireless Road and the Ratchaprarop area, which are located nearby the Rathchaprasong Intersection, by 02:30 p.m. the security personnel were confronting with the protestors. But, no major clash was reported yet.

The latest development in Bangkok has followed the announcement by the Center for Resolution of Emergency Situation (CRES), which said earlier that it will keep pressure on the "red-shirt" protestors to end their prolonged rally.

The troops started to seal off the "red-shirts" fortified encampment late on Thursday, prompting violent clashes in which Khattiya Sawasdipol, chief military adviser to protesters, was admitted to hospital after being shot in the head.
