In a recent news briefing, Lian Weiliang, Deputy Director of China's National Development and Reform Commission, said that relevant departments are in close communication, and will make joint efforts to promote coordination for smooth transportation. But he also mentioned, various factors, including bad weather, could put pressure on transportation services during the 40-day travel period. He added that the current transportation system can hardly fulfill the travel needs of everyone.

The Spring Festival is the country's most important traditional holiday for family reunions. Most people go home for the festival. The coming Spring Festival falls on January the 31st.
