Spring is a time to enjoy the natural freshness of a new season, and perfect to sip fresh tea. But continuous rains in southern China have delayed this year's new crop of Biluochun, also known as emerald spring spirals.

Picking, frying, rubbing and sniffing, brings the first pot of Biluochun. The famous Chinese green tea typically enters the market in mid March. But due to the rain, Dongshan, the hometown of Biluochun, did not welcome its new tea until this Wednesday. Despite the delay, Dongshan Tea House producers say the yield and quality will not be affected. Prices range widely, with this year's average at around 3,000 yuan per gram. The best Biluochun is expected to be cost some 6,000 yuan per gram.
