Ancient porcelains return home

Some of the porcelain produced in the Dehua kiln in Fujian Province has returned to its place of origin, after having been stored at the Forbidden City for centuries.

The porcelain plate is a grade-one cultural relic from the Ge Kiln, entitled as it looks, "Celadon Plate with a Mouth in the Shape of Mallow Petals". |
The twenty-five relics, which were produced during the Ming and Qing Dynasties, cover all genres created in the Dehua kiln. Only the finest of the 700 pieces stored by the Palace Museum will be transferred to Fujian.
The Dehua kiln was one of the three major kilns of ancient China, and much of its output were used to pay tribute to the royal court.

Centerpieces include a Buddha and two white porcelain Buddhasattavas. The life-like works reflect the superb craftsmanship of pieces made in the Dehua kiln.
The porcelain relics opens to the public at the Dehua Porcelain Museum starting on Wednesday.
