Right after the press conference, we interviewed the biggest star of the forthcoming Big Love Festival, Gary Cherone. The American singer-songwriter is best known for his work with the legendary hard rock group Extreme. He shares his first impressions of China, and discloses his feelings on the much anticipated October show.

Founded in 1985, Extreme is headed by Gary Cherone and Nuno Bettencourt. They reached the height of their popularity in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The band describes its music as "Funky Metal."

The current band members are lead vocalist Gary Cherone, lead guitarist and vocalist Nuno Bettencourt, bassist and backing vocalist Pat Badger, and drummer and percussionist Kevin Figueiredo.

Cherone is cheerful on his first visit to China.

They have released five studio albums, two EPs, and two compilation albums since their formation. The band was one of the most successful rock acts of early 1990s, selling more than 10 million albums worldwide.

After their third album, Extreme disbanded in 1996, and the band members turned to pursue their personal careers. In 2007, Gary reunited with Extreme, and released their latest album, "Saudades de Rock," the next year.

Gary promises to bring the reunited band to China, and also discloses some surprises.

During their heyday, Extreme toured around the world, and highlighted numerous music festivals. In China, such large-scale open events are just emerging as a phenomenon, and becoming a fast-booming industry. Since 2008, hundreds of various-sized music festivals have been held around the nation on a daily basis.

So, as an old face of such gatherings, what is Cherone's suggestion for Chinese organizers?

Extreme will thrill Chinese fans live, as the closing act on the first day of the Big Love, on October 2nd.
