WikiLeaks is still operating its website and releasing diplomatic cables after its founder Julian Assange was arrested Tuesday. But several credit card companies and banks have terminated their relationships with the anti-secrecy website.

Last week, Amazon stopped hosting Wikileaks on its Amazon Web Services.

And Paypal stopped allowing payments to Wikileaks.

Paypal's Vice President says, they received a letter from the United States, accusing Wikileaks of illegal activities.

Later the world's best known credit card companies Mastercard and Visa made similar moves. Even Julian Assange's personal account at the Swiss postal service was frozen.

Since then, websites of the companies have been forced to shut down several times.

All the attacks stem from a ring of international hackers. They call themselves "Anonymous" and the attacks "Operation Payback".

However,Operation Payback itself appeared to run into problems, as many of its sites went down.

It's not known how much Wikileaks rely on the credit card companies and online donations.
