A new film, "Romance of The Revolution" , directed by Huo Jianqi, is about to start shooting in China.

It plans to be released in 2011, to commemorate the 100 year anniversary of the 1911 revolution, which overthrew the Qing Dynasty.

"Romance of The Revolution" tells Qu Qiubai's love story during that period. Actress Dong Jie and actor Dou Xiao will play the leading roles. Both are recognized from films "Happy Times" and "Under the Hawthorn Tree" respectively, which were directed by famous Chinese director Zhang Yimou.

Qu Qiubai was one of the excellent Chinese intellectuals who was involved in the 1911 revolution.

At the press conference, Dou Xiao wears a grey suit and old-style glasses. Looking very much like the real Qu Qiubai from history, Dou Xiao aims to show the pure love story that transpired between Qu Qiubai and his wife Yang Zhihua. In order to understand more about his character, he worked hard to learn Russian and read lots of books about Qu Qiubai.

Timed to be released at the one-hundred-year anniversary of the 1911 civil revolution, the film commemorates an important time in Chinese history and brings with it, a great and true love story.
