Typhoon Fanapi has made landfall over the eastern part of Taiwan. Jilong, Yilan, Hualien and Taitung counties are experiencing heavy rain and strong winds. Up to 400 millimeters of rain is expected to fall.

After passing over Taiwan, Fanapi is expected to reach coastal regions of the mainland, such as Guangdong and Fujian provinces, Sunday night or Monday morning.

Typhoon Fanapi is moving in a northwest direction at a speed of 15-20 kilometers per hour and packing winds of up to 162 kilometers per hour.

Except Jinmen and Lianjiang counties, all Taiwan counties and cities announced schools was being suspended.

Some counties evacuated local residents from danger areas.

Airlines announced they were canceling some of Sunday's flights.

On the mainland, local governments in Fujian and Guangdong provinces have ordered fishing boats to return to port.

Tongling Port in Fujian province provided shelter from the typhoon for ten fishing vessels from Taiwan, providing food and water and accommodations for their crews.

Widespread rainfall is expected for China over the next three days and regions in the path of typhoon Fanapi can expect heavy rainfall.
