The National Maritime Forecasting Station has issued a warning about ice that is forming quickly off the country's eastern coast.

The station forecasts, this ice could extend up to 90 nautical miles off the coast of the Bohai Sea and 25 nautical miles into the northern Yellow Sea. The ice's thickness could increase to 40 cm. The station has warned ths could threaten sea transportation, fishing and aquatic life. The worst sea ice in the past 30 years in Jiaozhou Bay, has so far stranded more than 400 fishing boats. Maritime authorities, have mobilized icebreakers to clear paths for the ships.
