Chinese Ambassador to the US, Zhou Wenzhong, says US President Barack Obama's upcoming visit to China is important for the development of bilateral relations. He expects concrete achievements will be made.

 

President Barack Obama's first visit to China begins next week. The Chinese ambassador to the US, Zhou Wenzhong says most of the preparation has been completed.

Chinese Ambassador to the US Zhou Wenzhong said, "I believe through this visit, Sino-US relations will be deepened on the basis of building positive, cooperative and comprehensive relations outlined by the leaders of the two countries. So I think the visit is of great importance to the development of bilateral ties."

Zhou Wenzhong says since Obama took office, Sino-US relations have maintained a good level of development. It is one of the most important and active bilateral relationships in the world.

Obama and Chinese President Hu Jintao will discuss various topics concerning both nations. Zhou Wenzhong expects Obama's visit will bring more cooperation opportunities.

Chinese Ambassador to the US Zhou Wenzhong said, "For example, the two sides have been in talks on the cooperation in the field of new energy. We also engaged in talks in environmental protection. So I think both sides will feel happy and satisfied."

Cooperation on energy, trade and climate change are likely to be the focus of Obama's visit. The large delegation, headed by Obama, will include the US secretary of state, commerce secretary, energy secretary and Trade Representative.

Zhou Wenzhong says Obama's visit will strongly boost cooperation between China and the US, promoting mutual understanding and pushing bilateral relations to a new high.
