Rescuers are going all out to clear a collapsed bridge in Wenchuan County, the epicenter of last year's massive earthquake in Southwest China's Sichuan Province.
Limited traffic is expected to resume within a week. Workers have so far cleared a single emergency lane near the bridge for small vehicles. Restrictions are in place to ensure traffic safety. Heavy rain triggered rocks that destroyed the Chediguan Bridge early on Saturday, leaving six dead. The bridge links Wenchuan with other areas and is considered the lifeline for the reconstruction in the county. Traffic disruption has affected the supply of materials. But local government is taking measures to keep prices stable.
