China's Ministry of Transport says the four merchant ships escorted by the Chinese naval fleet are expected to arrive in safe waters on Thursday. And the second escort mission will begin after Friday.
The escort will mainly protect the safety of Chinese ships and people who pass through the Gulf of Aden and the Somalia sea area. It will also protect the safety of ships transporting UN humanitarian supplies, like the UN World Food Program.
