Newly appointed Argentina coach Diego Maradona says things are moving forward without changes.
He made the announcement on Thursday despite a row over his choice of assistant, and reports that he threatened to quit just a week after accepting the post.
Maradona will make his debut in next Wednesday's friendly away to Scotland, but has run into a deadlock with Argentina Football Association president Julio Grondona because he wants former defender Oscar Ruggeri as his assistant.
In the coastal city of Mar del Plata Thursday, Maradona greeted tennis players training for the upcoming Davis Cup final and participated in the end of an athletic tournament for young people.
Accompanied by his head assistant coach Carlos Bilardo, Maradona dispelled widespread speculation among local cable television networks and newspapers that he could even quit over the coaching selection row.
Critics see the disagreement as the worst possible start and a foretaste of what may be to come with the notoriously unpredictable and impulsive former World Cup captain at the helm.
