David Chalmers and Lynn Schneider are among a group of tourists volunteering to work with non-profit organization Blue Energy. The project brings renewable energy to remote towns and villages in Nicaragua.
For the next two months they will live like the local people along with other volunteers, enjoying almost no modern conveniences.
From the town of Bluefields, a three hour boat ride takes them to the village of Monkey Point, their final destination. It's inhabited by about a hundred and twenty families, members of different indigenous ethnic groups.
