'Forest in the sky' at Qingdao Expo

"Forest in the sky," a new Italian ecological innovation, is expected to be exhibited at the Qingdao International Horticultural Exposition in 2014. The expo garden is now under construction, with various kinds of local and alien arbors, bushes and flowers. Some green plants will be planted on the rooftops to realize vertical greening, following the Italian idea, according to a staff of the Qingdao Expo. The Italian city of Milan is currently constructing a pair of 27-story twin towers, known as the world's first vertical forest, that integrates forest and plant life into its structure, featuring 730 trees, 5,000 shrubs and 11,000 ground plants. The Expo staffs have held a few video- and call-conferences with the Italian organization that designed the "forest in the sky". Some experts of the project are expected to make an on-site investigation into the expo garden in May. The expo is set to be held during April-October, 2014, covering the theme "From the earth，for the Earth." It is expected to attract 12 million visitors. By now, 13 foreign cities (and states) have confirmed their participation in the exhibition of the international expo garden.
