Being the second Provincial-level Whole Region Tourism Demonstration Area across China, Ningxia has launched a three-year tourism action plan to step up tourism development in the next three years, said Wang Heshan, a deputy to the National People's Congress (NPC) and vice-chairperson of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, at a plenary meeting of the 12th NPC deputies from Ningxia during the annual NPC session in Beijing, on March 7.
Ningxia will continue to enhance infrastructure construction such as renovating toilets and roads at scenic spots, he said. Ningxia will also carry out the project of “Ten, Hundred, Thousand and Ten Thousands,” which means presenting ten distinctive blocks, tourism spots, shops, travel agencies, star grade hotels, farm houses, and branded snacks, selecting one hundred tourism service stars, cultivating one thousand rural tourism leaders and training ten thousand tourism service personnel, he expounded.
“We will also strengthen supervision such as establishing blacklists of enterprises and tour guides, and promote integrated development of tourism, agriculture, industry and sports, “he added. Ningxia received 21 million tourists in 2016 with the tourism revenue totaling 20 billion yuan, up by 17.1 and 30.2 percent respectively year on year.
