The festival, the largest of its kind in Anhui Province, is designed to increase awareness of Mount Huangshan and its local Hui culture. Co-sponsored by the National Tourism Administration and Anhui Provincial People’s Government, and organized by the Huangshan Municipal People's Government and Anhui Provincial Bureau of Tourism, the festival includes visits to famous Mount Huangshan, ancient Anhui traditional architecture and picturesque Shexian County.

Other activities include a traditional lantern fair, folk-custom performances, painting and calligraphy exhibitions, as well as a Huangshan specialties show.

The festival also aims to facilitate the development of the tourism industry by hosting travel agent conferences, tourism investment promotion fairs and tourism real estate fairs.

The annual event attracts tourists and media from countries and regions like the United States, Japan, France, Germany, Canada, Singapore and Thailand.

The China Huangshan International Mountaineering Assembly, which draws in almost 4,000 professional mountaineers and amateurs every year, takes place concurrently.

MTB Huangshan

MTB (Mountain Terrain Bicycle) Huangshan started in 2006, and has since become China's premier amateur cycling event.

The event is held every March in the ancient?Yixian County of Huangshan City, at the foot of Mount Huangshan. It is co-organized by the Huangshan Municipal Government, China Bicycle Sports Association, CCTV Sports Channel and Anhui Sports Administration.

The race course runs through the villages of Hongcun and Xidi, two World Heritage ancient villages located at the foot of Mount Huangshan. The competition is held when the weather is agreeable and all the area’s flowers are in full blossom, especially the rape flower (there are a lot of rape fields along the race course). The beautiful scenery and the fine fragrance of the flowers make it a very pleasant track to follow.

The 2013 edition attracted close to 5,000 athletes and coaches from 26 countries and regions. If you want to learn more about the 2004 competition, visit the official website at hs.farseekers.cn
