For people interested in learning about the clothing of ethnic groups, an exhibition featuring Hani people's clothing and accessories is currently on display at Shanghai Textile Museum.

The Hani ethnic group, one of the 56 nationalities in China, mostly reside in southwestern China's Yunnan Province in the Ailao Mountains, between the Lancang and Red rivers. Some Hani also live in Vietnam and Laos.

The silver accessories Hani people wear on their chest, neck and waist have different symbolic meanings.

The style may slightly differ from one subgroup to another; normally they use navy blue cotton.

Men wear trousers and collarless jackets with buttons down the front, while women wear trousers or pants with jackets with buttons going down one side.

The outfits are often decorated with silver, pearls, feathers and other objects. When dressing up, women wear shawls decorated with peach blossoms over the edges, colorful aprons and leggings.

Young women also like to wear colorful hats and earrings, silver rings and necklaces. The hairstyles differ for married and unmarried women.
