Dragon Dance Festival

The Dragon dance is one of the age old cultural festivities in China. In this particular form of dance, the dancers' team carries the dragon. Dragon Dance Art Festival is supposed to have a long proud chronology. This festival occupies the seat of reverence and recognition throughout the world.

Longgang attracts 80 percent of the tourists during this celebration. The town wears color and hue during this season of laughter and mirth. This event is as old as 300 years. Generally the Hakka population of the town takes part in the Dragon dance. The mascots are carried in processions through the streets of Shenzhen. Almost 100 million yuan is spent during this festival. There are competitions and contests among the dancers. The tourists can be spectator to the color, jingle, popping music of the crackers and fest of light in this particular celebration.

This festival takes place according to the Chinese lunar calendar. The dragons are also made of grass which is lighted during the period of dancing and demonstration.
