The "top 10 Chinese media buzzwords of 2023" were revealed by the National Language Resources Monitoring and Research Center on Dec. 6, as part of the annual "Chinese language review 2023" event.

The selection process was based on the national language resources monitoring corpus, which contains over 1 billion characters. Yang Erhong, a professor at Beijing Language University, said that the annual review of media buzzwords documents significant events throughout the year, reflecting the dynamic changes in both China and around the world.

#Modern Chinese civilization

Chinese President Xi Jinping called for shouldering new cultural missions and building a modern Chinese civilization during a meeting on cultural inheritance and development on June 2, 2023. 

The proposition of "building a modern Chinese civilization" elucidates the historical, theoretical, and practical logic of the mutual integration and reinforcement of Chinese civilization and Chinese modernization.
