World record holder and Olympic champion Usain Bolt Friday said he was sad to know that five of his fellow Jamaican athletes had failed drug tests.
Bolt won the 100m Friday at the London Grand Prix while the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) confirmed five Jamaican athletes, four men and a woman, had tested positive for a banned substance.
Bolt said he was sure he was not one of them but felt sad to know that drugs are still abused in the sport.
"Definitely it's sad to know there are still drugs but for me it doesn't really matter, as long as I'm clean I'm just going forward," he said.
The first report, made by Radio Jamaica, indicated that at least two of the nation's top sprinters have tested positive for a banned substance.
It was reported that the sprinters failed drug tests at a recent local meet and were selected into Jamaica's 46-member team for the Berlin world championships in August.
Jamaican prime minister Bruce Golding has been reported in local media to have summoned leading officials from the Jamaica Anti-Doping Commission, who are conducting an investigation, and the Jamaican Amateur Athletics Association to an emergency meeting in Kingston to brief him on the situation.
The Jamaica Observer newspaper said two members of the men's 4x100m relay team, two in the 4x400m and a female 4x100m relay runner had all tested positive for a banned substance.
However, neither Bolt nor Powell were among those named in the report.
