China were held by Vietnam to 1-1 in a Group A match at the 1st Mekong Region U-21 international football tournament at the Olympic Stadium?in Phnom Penh?on Saturday.

Huang Lei put China 1-0 ahead from the penalty spot in the 76th minute, before Vietnam equalized in the 90th minute when Nguyen Thanh Hien converted a spot kick.

Also on Saturday, Cambodia beat Laos 2-0 in Group B.

Phourng Soksana and Khuon Laboravy each scored a goal.

The nine-day event features teams from China, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam and host Cambodia.
