The Athletes' Village in the Guangzhou Asian Games Town reopened today (December 8) for the 2010 Asian Para Games which is scheduled December 12-19. A ceremony was held for the opening of the Athletes' Village and to welcome the Chinese sports delegation.

Senior officials attending the ceremony included Wang Xinxian, President of the China Disabled Persons' Federation (CDPF), President of the National Paralympic Committee of China and Executive President of the Guangzhou Asian Para Games Organising Committee (GAPGOC), Wang Naikun, Executive Vice President of the CDFP and Vice President of GAPGOC, Lv Shiming, Vice Chairman of the CDPF, Executive President of the National Paralympic Committee of China, Vice President of GAPGOC and Chef de Mission of the Chinese sports delegation, Feng Jianzhong, Vice Minister of the General Administration of Sport of China, Executive President of the National Paralympic Committee of China, Vice President of GAPGOC and Chef de Mission of the Chinese sports delegation, Jia Yong, Vice President of the CDPF, Executive Vice President of the National Paralympic Committee of China, Deputy Secretary General of GAPGOC and Executive Chef de Mission of the Chinese sports delegation, Malini Rajasegaran, Secretary General of the Asian Paralympic Committee (APC), Zhang Guangning, Member of the Standing Committee of the Guangdong Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), Secretary of the Guangzhou Municipal Committee of the CPC and Vice President and Secretary General of GAPGOC, Lin Musheng, Vice Governor of Guangdong Provinve and Vice President of GAPGOC, Wan Qingliang, Deputy Secretary of the Guangzhou Municipal Committee of the CPC, Mayor of Guangzhou and Vice President of GAPGOC, Kong Shaoqiong, Mayor of the Athletes' Village, Chen Rugui, Member of the Standing Committee of the Guangzhou Municipal Committee of the CPC, Xu Ruisheng, Vice Mayor of Guangzhou and Executive Deputy Secretary General of GAPGOC, Chen Guo, Vice Mayor of Guangzhou and Deputy Secretary General of GAPGOC, and Xie Xiaodan, Secretary General of the Guangzhou Municipal Government. Two hundred members of the Chinese sports delegation also attended the ceremony.

Mr Wan Qingliang, Mr Lv Shiming and Ms Malini Rajasegaran delivered speeches. Mr Lin Musheng presented the Athletes' Village plaque to Ms Kong Shaoqiong, Mayor of the Athletes' Village. Mr Zhang Guangning declared the opening of the Guangzhou 2010 Asian Para Games Athletes' Village.

Then a flag raising ceremony was held to welsome the Chinese delegation. Mr Wang Xinxian presented the flag of the delegation to Chef de Mission Lv Shiming.
