Mongolian Ser-Od Bat-Ochir won the Brighton Marathon on April 18 in Brighton town of Britain's Brighton and Hove city, the Mongolian Light Athletics Federation said Wednesday.

The Brighton marathon, which is held for the first time in the small town, was attended by some 10,000 runners.

The long-distance runner from Mongolia finished his way in two hours 19 minutes and 05 seconds, alongside Jo Bryce from UK finished her way in three hours five minutes and 20 seconds in the women's category.

"It is my first marathon in Britain," said Ser-Od, who is serving the British Morpeth Harriers athletics club.

"It's a great course, the last 25km was very flat. I am very happy, the British crowd was very supportive," he added.

The Mongolian racer was followed by local runners Michael Coleman with 2:24:54 and Chris Thomson with 2:29:54.

The Brighton Marathon's gold medal is not first gold for 28-year old Ser-Od. He won the Good Luck Beijing marathon in 2008, before the two-time Olympian grabbed a bronze medal in the Hong Kong marathon.
