The President of the International Olympic Committee, Jacques Rogge, said?in?Singapore?on Wednesday that he was satisfied with the preparation for the Youth Olympic Games (YOG).

Speaking at a press conference, Rogge said, "This visit to Singapore has been a fruitful and constructive one and I am pleased with the way the preparation for the Youth Olympic Games are unfolding."

"The Singapore Youth Olympic Games Organizing Committee is doing a great job and it warms me to see that their enthusiasm matches mine. I am looking forward to a superb first edition this August," he added.

During his three-day visit in Singapore, Rogge visited the Youth Olympic Village, Games venues, Opening and Closing Ceremony location, and the Intelligent Transport Systems Center. He also called on Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong on Wednesday.

Singapore will host the inaugural Youth Olympic Games from Aug.14 to 26, 2010, which will receive some 5,000 athletes and officials from 205 National Olympic Committees (NOCs), along with estimated 1,200 media representatives, 20,000 local and international volunteers, and more than 500,000 spectators.

Young athletes - aged between 14 and 18 years - will compete in 26 sports and take part in a Culture and Education Program.
