I resolve: to help kids in need
Adjust font size:

What's your New Year's resolution? A new car? A new apartment? A Mr or Ms Right? Or perhaps something more selfless and inspiring that will help others.

If it's really meaningful, and not a me-me-me material pursuit, Infinity Shopping Mall will award you 100,000 yuan (US$13,520) to help you realize it.

The inspiring resolutions campaign is part of a charity drive with UNICEF, the United Nations Children's Fund.

Organizers will select one of the New Year's resolutions hung on a Christmas tree in the mall through December.

A donation box has been set up in the lobby and each donor will be given a card on which to write his or her New Year's resolution. Each resolution represents hope and determination to make the new year better, especially for children. The first donors will receive a UNICEF greeting card to thank for their support.

Donations will help "buy," in the end, a deep satisfaction in helping children in need.

"For 28 years in China, we have always kept our purpose in mind, to help children in poverty, violence, disease and discrimination," says Zhu Yingyan, an UNICEF official.

"December is a month for giving and hope. We hope that with the support of everyone, kids trapped in some poor regions in China can enjoy a healthy, happy and memorable childhood, just as their counterparts in cities," Zhu adds. "We need your love and help."

According to Zhu, all donations will be used in children's welfare projects in less-developed provinces in western China.

In addition to the charity drive, the mall also offers afternoon music in the lobby. Several bands will perform jazz, country and pop every Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 4pm to 6pm.

Address: 138 Huaihai Rd M. Shanghai
