Turkish troops killed five rebels of the outlawed Kurdish Workers' Party (PKK) in a clash in eastern Turkey, the semi-official Anatolia news agency reported on Monday.
The operation against the PKK was staged in rural areas of Kagizman town of eastern province of Kars on Sunday, said the report, adding that operations are still going on in the region.
Meanwhile, one Turkish soldier was killed in the Sunday's clash, while another was wounded, added the report.
The PKK, listed by the United States and Turkey as a terrorist group, took up arms against Turkey in 1984 with the aim of creating an ethnic homeland in the southeast. More than 30,000 people have been killed in the over-two-decade conflict.
