The Myanmar government has agreed to accept all countries' aid workers regardless of nationalities to come to Myanmar and help carrying out relief and resettlement work, diplomatic sources quoted United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon as saying Friday.
The consent was obtained when Ban met with Myanmar top leader Senior-General Than Shwe in the new capital of Nay Pyi Taw during a two hours' talks, the sources said.
Their meeting took place a day after Ban visited two cyclone- devastated areas of Dedaye and Mawlamyinegyun in southwestern Ayeyawaddy division's delta region Thursday after his arrival in Yangon earlier on the day.
During his tour to the cyclone-hit areas, Ban overviewed the distribution of aid supplies and met some victims in the areas.
Ban will return to Yangon in the afternoon and meet resident representatives of UN agencies, to be followed by a press conference in the evening, the sources added.
