The Nepali government Sunday reiterated its commitment to the one-China policy, after some Nepali lawmakers' meeting with the Dalai Lama in India recently.
A statement issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs expressed Nepal's commitment towards maintaining friendly ties with neighboring nations and not allowing its territory as a venue of protests against them.
"The reports of organized activities affecting Nepal-China relations have drawn the ministry's attention," it said.
The ministry has called on the public not to get involved in any activities that may harm the relations between Nepal and neighboring nations, and warned of possible punishment for such activities.
It was recently revealed that a team of Nepali lawmakers of Madhes-origin visited Dharamshala in India to meet the Dalai Lama. The team was led by Madhesi Janadhikar Forum leader B P Yadav.
On Sunday, the Nepali government prohibited anti-China activities in the country. The government's move came just a day before the birthday of the Dalai Lama.
Tibetan separatists said they are planning to demonstrate in the capital of Kathmandu on Monday.
