Li calls for closer ties with Nepalese Communist Party

Li Changchun, a senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC), met?in Beijing on Monday with a delegation from the Communist Party of Nepal led by its President Jhala Nath Khanal.??

Hailing the progress of China-Nepal ties, Li said it is a persistent policy of China to consolidate traditional friendship and deepen cooperation of mutual benefits with Nepal.

To develop China-Nepal friendship not only meets the fundamental interests and common aspirations of both peoples, but also promotes regional peace and stability, said Li, who is a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee.

Li vowed joint efforts with Nepal to deepen bilateral substantial cooperation in various fields, realize mutual benefits and promote bilateral ties up to a new stage.

Applauding bilateral party-to-party exchanges, Li said the CPC is ready to deepen exchanges and cooperation with various political parties of Nepal, and push forward closer bilateral ties.

He appreciated the stance of the Nepalese Communist Party, known as the United Marxist-Leninist, on issues concerning China's core interests, and spoke highly of Nepal's adherence to the one-China policy.

Li also briefed the guests about Tibet's economic and social development since its democratic reform 50 years ago, as well as China's principled stance on Tibet involved issues.

Referring Nepal as at an important historical period, Khanal said Nepal treasures its traditional friendship with China, and is grateful to China's support and aid for his country's peace process and economic development. Nepal is ready to beef up friendly relations between the two governments, parties and peoples in an all-round way.

He reiterated that Nepal is opposed to any force carrying out anti-China activities on Nepalese territory, adding the country sticks to the one-China policy on issues involving Tibet and Taiwan.
