Telecommunications and cable TV services for most households in Lhasa have resumed following the unrest that broke out 10 days ago.
As of Sunday night, more than 90 percent of the 7,300 fixed-line, broadband and cable TV subscribers in Lhasa, who had been without service since March 14, were reconnected, said the regional government.
Last week, power supplies in downtown Lhasa were fully restored after emergency repairs. A 12.5-kilometer transmission line and more than 20 transformers were damaged in the unrest.
Riots erupted in Lhasa on March 14 when the rioters set fires to and looted public facilities, buildings and shops. The violence left 18 civilians and one police officer dead and more than 620 injured. Losses have been estimated at 250 million yuan (about 35.45 million U.S. dollars).
