The central committee of President Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah movement
decided on Tuesday to disconnect all ties with Islamic Hamas
movement, Fatah said in an official statement.
The statement published by the state-run Palestinian Authority
news agency "Wafa" said that the central committee of Fatah
movement decided not to hold any dialogues or contacts or meetings
with Hamas movement.
Fatah statement said the disconnection of ties with the Islamic
movement, which it described as a movement of coup leaders, "would
be on all levels."
Hamas movement's armed wing and its police executive force took
over all the Palestinian Authority security headquarters including
President Abbas' house and office in Gaza. Fatah claimed that Hamas
also stormed the house of late leader Yasser Arafat.
Following the fighting in the Gaza Strip, which ended up with a
full Hamas control there, Abbas sacked Ismail Haneya, the prime
minister of the national unity government, who is a Hamas leader
and formed a new emergency government.
Abbas had also issued a presidential decree outlawing Hamas
movement's armed wing al-Qassam Brigades and its police executive
force.
