TUNIS, July 27 (Xinhua) -- Tunisian President Moncef Marzouki attended the Tunisian flag raising ceremony at the London Olympic Village on Thursday, the Tunisian official press agency TAP reported on Friday.

Tunisian sports minister and the chairman of the country's Olympic committee were also present.

The Tunisian flag was hoisted as part of the welcome ceremony for the Tunisian delegation before the Olympic Village mayor and the delegation of Tunisian athletes taking part in games, among whom were Beijing Olympic champion Oussama Mellouli and Ons Jabeur, the winner of the Roland Garros 2011 junior tournament.

"My presence here is a token of recognition for the role of Tunisian sports and I have come to encourage the young Tunisian sportsmen to give the best of themselves during the games," Marzouki said. Enditem
