The proposal was made today by James Leape, Director General of WWF, the world's largest non-governmental environmental protection organization. WWF initiated the Earth Hour to boost global awareness of climate change and energy saving.

Leape met Hong Hao, director of the Bureau of Shanghai World Expo Coordination at the bureau. Leape said WWF is actively working on its exhibition and praised the organizer's green approach.

Hong said the Expo will use zero-emission electronic vehicles and solar power batteries to protect the environment. He promised every help for participants.
