The restrictions on heavily polluting vehicles, known as "yellow-label" vehicles, will be expanded to the suburban Shanghai Ring Expressway (G1501) next month. The vehicles were banned from the city's Outer Ring Road last year.

Last year, a total of 171,600 'yellow-label" vehicles were eliminated, exceeding the city's target.

Violating drivers will have points deducted and fined 200 yuan.
