China's National Nuclear Emergency Coordination Committee said Tuesday in a daily notice that no obvious change had been found in the levels of radioactive material in the environment and food samples on the Chinese mainland.

A sample survey also indicated no abnormality in drinking water, it said.

Tokyo Electric Power Co. (TEPCO) released a schedule to bring the quake-crippled Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant in Japan under control, the committee's notice said, quoting a report from the International Atomic Energy Agency released late Monday.

According to the schedule, TEPCO, the operator of the nuclear complex, plans to arrange for evacuees to return to their homes in about six to nine months.

The nuclear plant was crippled by the devastating March 11 earthquake and ensuing tsunami, causing radioactive materials to be emitted into the environment.

On April 11, the Japanese government widened the evacuation zone beyond the 20-km radius of the power plant, encouraging local residents to stay out of some areas 20 to 30 km from the nuclear complex due to health concerns.
