A magnitude-5.2 quake in the Mindoro area rocked Metro Manila and parts of Southern Luzon Monday morning, local media reported.

Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said that the quake occurred at 7:50 a.m. It said that no damage was expected from the temblor, but aftershocks are likely.

Citing initial reports reaching him, seismologists from Phivolcs said the quake was felt at Intensity III in Metro Manila, but they advised the public to remain calm.

Meanwhile, the United States Geological Service data showed that the quake was at magnitude 5.7, with the epicenter traced to 44 km west of Batangas, or 70 km northwest of Calapan, Mindoro; or 103 km south southwest from Manila.
