her role in the film at this year's Hong Kong Film Critics Society
Awards.
Tony Leung Ka-Fai and Siqin Gaowa claimed the best actor and
best actress titles at this year's Hong Kong Film Critics Society
Awards.
The Hong Kong Film Critics Society announced the winners on
Monday, honoring Leung for his role in the crime thriller "Eye in
the Sky," and Siqin for the comedy-drama "The Postmodern Life of My
Aunt."
The Society issued a statement praising Leung who has
"accurately portrayed a character that is very different from his
on-screen persona," and saying Siqin embellishes her character in
"Aunt" in every detail.
Director of "Aunt," Ann Hui, was also named best director.
Distinguishing itself from the flashier Hong Kong Film Awards,
the Film Critics Society Awards recognize films from a more
critical perspective.
Aside from honoring individuals, the annual awards also issue a
list of recommended films. This year's eight recommendations
include Derek Yee's "Protégé," Johnnie To's "Godly Detective," and
Peter Chan's "The Warlords."
The awards will be officially presented at a ceremony scheduled
for February 27.
