Qufu City, in east China's Shandong Province, has started a major construction project to restore a city wall built in the Ming Dynasty, more than six hundred years ago.
The city is the birthplace of Confucius, a great thinker and educator in Chinese history.
The project aims to restore the 5,300-meter long wall and a tower.
Upon completion, people on the wall will get a bird's-eye view of major attractions in the city, including the Confucius Temple, Confucius Mansion and Confucius Forest.
The city wall now under renovation, the first ever built of bricks in Qufu, was erected in 1513 to safeguard the Confucius Temple.
