17 People Dead in Mud-rock Flows on Sichuan-Tibet Road
Nineteen road workers were buried under mud-rock flows caused by landslides Wednesday night on the Sichuan-Tibet Highway, one of the highest roads in China linking the Tibet Autonomous Region and the rest of the country.

Two workers have been rescued from the debris, but the others are believed to be dead, said rescue workers from local police and the communications department on Thursday night.

Five of the victims are native Tibetans and the others are from elsewhere in the country.

Rescue work is still underway to search for the remaining bodies in the debris.
