As the New Year approaches, people tend to remember the old days. So it's no wonder at the start of 2003, an abundance of concerts dedicated to old melodies are being staged and Tsai Chin's and Fei Yu Qing's concert is a highlight of the season.
In April this year, a concert on the theme of "Old Shanghai Pops" presented by Tsai Chin and Fei Yu Qing won not only enormous applause but also did extremely well at the box office.
Anyone who missed out on that concert and the chance to listen to the mellow voice of Tsai Chin and the tender vocalizing of Fei Yu Qing, now have the opportunity to make up for it.
The two renowned singers will stage a concert at Shanghai Grand Theatre on the nights of January 2 and 3.
"The repertoire will embrace all the hits of the two artists and will recall many of the pop songs heard in the city in the 1930s," Ng See Yuen, co-ordinator of the production, said.
He believes elder residents will be charmed again by the golden old melodies while the younger generation will be fascinated by their outstanding musicality. The concert will please audiences of all ages.
"We have also invited noted dancer Jin Xing to be the choreographer for the concert and this will add spice to the production," Ng said.
A specially recruited band combining Chinese and Western musicians will accompany the singers.
